Comments:I am so grateful to this organization for all of the help and information that they have shared with me and my husband who suffers from Alzheimer's disease. My husband participated in the Kustaafu arts program for a while and I notice a significant change in his behavior. He slept better and was more focused. I highly endorse the programs that the African American Alzheimer's and Wellness Association provides. I attend most of the functions that this organization gives from the Caregivers Extravaganza to the Laughing Yoga for caregivers! Keep up the great work the community needs you!

Comments:I am grateful to the African American Alzheimer's and Wellness Association for providing services to my father the the Kustaafu Senior Arts Program. I became the primary caregiver for dad and was looking for help! The association paid of a home visit and linked us with services that could assist with the many challenges of caregiving. Dad enjoys the art program and have completed some beautiful artwork for us to keep forever! This is a program that I endorse and greatly encourage other caregivers to take advantage of. Thanks AAAWA!

Comments:Mrs. Kim Lawson CEO Of The A.A.A.W.A is Truly a God sent. with her knowledge and loving spirit in helping you to obtain information that you need to Help to take care of your love one. It's already hard to watch your love one to Deteriorate in heath and spirit. Trying to adjust to that alone is overwhelming. As a Health Care Giver myself for over 20 years, I feel that the quality of Customer service and love and respect that is given to clients or patient has decline tremendously,It really hurts my heart.Because it has Cause a lack of respect and trust in people and the system. Because you have work to make a living and you really don't have the time or sometime the resources to be with your love one 247 to make sure they are getting the best care that they deserve. But Thank God there are people who are still in the system you can truly trust. Who are Professional, Loving and has a gentle spirit like Mrs. Kim who cares about people and her community.

Comments:I personally want to thank The African American Alzheimer's and Wellness Association for explaining and helping me to understand the importance of having a Power of Attorney and a State of Ohio Health Care Power of Attorney. I had to use these documents for bank purposes, for postal services, for utilities, my dad's government personnel office, and his primary care doctor. The Power of Attorney documents were so professionally sound that I had no problems with these organizations accepting them. These documents have allowed me to take care of my dad's affairs such as saving his home, his savings and getting him started on the process of receiving Medicaid with no problem. They directed me to the right place to straigten out his legal matters as well! They also were a great support during the passing of my mother. I want to again says "thanks" and I hope that many more in the community learn of your wonderful service and utilize it!

Comments:I want to send a heartfelt "Thank You" to Ms Kim Lee and the association for all your help and support during my dear mother's journey. May God continue to Bless your mission. I have been amazed at the number of people I have come in contact with that have the Same but Different story concerning a loved one living with this disease. The community needs more committed people like Ms. Lee, AAAWA and Ms. Cruz.

Comments:I live with Fibromyalgia and the symptoms this past year have been overwhelming - I struggled getting up most mornings as I have been riddled with pain and frustration - which led to me becoming depressed. The medication did not work and the side effects were worst than the condition. With the support and compassion from Sister Kim and Brother Earl - (this is an anointed organization), I have made lifestyle and diet changes. I have taken the steps to change my household and as a family we have moved from "Crisis Intervention" to "PREVENTION." I am eating to live and I have stopped "living to eat." We are not using medication to treat symptoms, We are looking at what our bodies are trying to tell us and taking those first steps toward healing. Fast forward 50 days -No Fast food, cooking from scratch, reading labels (and knowing what I am reading), packing our lunches ........ I am almost symptom free and walking daily for 1 hour. I am starting Karate classes next week!!! My teenag

Comments:The African American Alzheimer's Association has been a great resource for me. It is so nice to have people who understand the disease and give support to caregivers and always available to educate and give professoinal opinions as love ones go through the the stages of alzheimer's. I have become to rely on them as my primary resource when I need questions answered about my mom or just counseling for myself. I hope they continue to grow so they can reach more and more people throughout the community who need support for their loved ones who suffer from this disease.

Comments:I have worked in the health care industry for many years, and I have taken note to the many illnesses that target the African American people. From sickle cell anemia to hypertension. Some diseases are hereditary or can't be helped, but I just want to commend The African American Alzheimer's and Wellness Association for there endeavors to present the African American Community with preventative measures and education that will possibly save a life.

Comments:I originally contacted the African American Alheimer's Association with Alzheimer concerns and questions about the disease, and how it will affect my aunt. It was then that I found out they offer more than just information on Alzheimers. I was also given information on hypertension, something I have been diagnosed with. They even shared with me healthy recipes! I am thankful for the information they provided for me and my aunt. My hopes and wishes is that they will continue to prosper in your efforts to help the black community.

Comments:I am so thrilled to be connected with the African American Alzheimer's & Wellness Assc. They have shared such great knowledge with families all over Ohio. What is so unique is they are talking about PREVENTION at the early stages. Once the diagnosis has occurred, they stand ready and willing to help families find the right resources. I am one of those resources. My firm stops the financial bleeding when the time comes to place a love one in a long term facility. No family must be impoverished to get Medicaid and help.
